The 50/50/50 Concours Competition is for all younger enthusiasts who are not necessarily members of a car club. You do not have to have a club membership to enter. This competition is all about encouraging you to have a go at showing your pride and joy and is targeting our younger (under 50) petrol heads with any under 50 year old car. The event is all about the state of cleanliness and condition of your car. Originality or authenticity and the underside of your car will not be judged. Click here to see the Rules and Judging sheets for the areas that will be inspected and scored.
There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, so go ahead and book your place in the 50/50/50 TODAY!. Click here for the entry form. BEST CLUB DISPLAY AWARD 2022
Every year, our show is a great celebration of classic motoring from around the world. And so what could be more appropriate than the theme for this year’s Classic Cover Insurance Best Club Display, than . . .
World of Wheels
Your club display is a great way to celebrate all you admire about your marque. Maybe its history, significant models, or simply the joy and pride of ownership. Talk it over with your club members and see what you can come up with. The more original the better. And the winners get a boost to their club’s bank balance.
Even if your club opts not to enter the Display Competition, your display is an opportunity for the club to show off your marque to the public and the great fun to be had in joining a car club. In the past some of the most interesting displays have been the 'barn find' unrestored cars. Also those not so old cars that provoke childhood memories of 'Mum or Dad's old car'. We really want Clubs to have fun with their displays and have fun with the Show’s theme. Cars displayed in the Club displays do not have to be Concours standard.
Clubs can always request space for more, or less, cars.
But first, be sure to enter early to be part of the show, regardless of whether you’re competing. Do it this week. You can enter competitions later. Enter here to reserve your space. Then enter the Club display competition – especially if your Club has never done so before!
We hope you’ll join to be part of it. For more information on how your club display will be judged, see the form on the "results/judging" page.

The Teams Event and Masters Class competitions of the Intermarque Concours d'Elegance are both serious Concours competitions and to win, cars will need to be prepared to the highest standard. The judges scrutinize all aspects of preparation and presentation in the finest detail and judge based on cleanliness and condition.
SURVIVORS CLASS
The Survivors Class is open to individual cars of more than 35 years old. Age and originality points are up to four times those of the Teams Event and Masters Class and so an older car in original condition complete with "patina" can win the Survivors Class. In fact, a survivor with original paint complete with cracking and crazing can score more points than a car that has been repainted.
YOUR CLUB CAN WIN!
It is apparent to the organisers of the event that many of the clubs that regularly display cars on the day are not entering a team in Concours because they don't feel that their cars are up to the standard required, are not sure about preparing cars for the event or don't think their club would have the resources to host the next years event. It can be seen from the standard of cars on club displays that many are good enough to take out prizes in the Teams, Masters or Survivors competitions and clubs don't need to be large to host the event because other clubs and service organisations are always willing to help. And the payout for winning is a substantial boost for club funds - in the last few years it has been around $8,000.
A GUIDE TO PREPARING CARS
Plan ahead. Appoint someone to manage your team well in advance of the event.
Cars don't need to be fresh restorations, just very clean and original.
Don't expect the car's owner to do all the work alone. What owners would decline having their club clean their car? A very ordinary car can be transformed by 'many hands' in a short time leading up to the event.
Pool the resources of all the useful trades-people on your membership. Seek advice on cleaners, solvents, paints, etc. Get the car up on jack stands or better still a hoist; wheels off and remove all the easy bits.
Make a list of willing club members and roster them to work in groups in evenings and weekends, e.g. give four a wheel arch each. When you think it's clean, swap them around and they'll do what the first person missed. If you can get both cars together under one roof it can become a good social event.
Many people think its crazy, but concourses are won with cotton buds and toothbrushes. That pay-out your club gets from the Intermarque Concours will more than cover the cost of some cleaning supplies. Attention to detail is essential. You must clean everything, everywhere, right down to inside the tail pipe!
Worn or unoriginal parts, tool kits, documentation and handbooks can be swapped, stolen or borrowed from other cars. Have the clubs 'old hands' check originality.
Start with a water blaster, steam cleaner or a trip to "Washworld" (take your own ramps) and save a lot of labour on degreasing the engine and underside.
If you can't clean it then paint it or plate it. Touch up bombs and paint pencils are essential. Use plenty of newspaper and masking tape.
If you can't hide a defect at least make it spotlessly clean. You'll lose fewer points. Wax and detail everything, but not the pedal rubbers or anything else that could compromise safety!
